Vishu is a festival celebrated in the state of Kerala, India. It marks the first day of the Malayalam year and falls in the month of April.The same day is also celebrated as New Year in several other parts of India such as Punjab (Baisakhi), Assam (Bihu), and West Bengal (Naba Barsha). It’s also celebrated in the Tulu Nadu region in Karnataka where it is known as ‘Bisu’.

Vishu is celebrated with fanfare and vigour by people of Kerala. People wear traditional dresses for the occasion and elders of the family distribute tokens of money, called ‘Vishukkaineetam’, to children. Vishu is also a day of feasting, wherein the edibles consist of roughly equal proportions of salty, sweet, sour, and bitter items. All the team members of Freshersworld.com went to a Malayalam restaurant to have a traditional Malayalam feast on Vishu.
